Descripción del trabajo

The European Southern Observatory’s Department of Communication, within the Office of the Director General at its Headquarters in Garching, needs the support of a working student in the following area: Archiving Services.

Due to the large amount of video and image material that ESO’s Creative Team produces itself and receives from external sources, we need support in structuring and processing this material for our productions and in managing our archives. This is necessary to make our workflows more efficient and to support our team in numerous productions. For this role we are looking for a highly motivated student of audiovisual media or a comparable degree programme, who will be working hand in hand with the seasoned professionals of ESO’s Creative Team and under their guidance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Structuring data, such as video footage and images, including naming and meta tagging, according to ESO guidelines.
  • Structuring interviews, including setting up timelines in Adobe Premiere, transcriptions, shortening and cleaning material.
  • Creating footage compilations.
  • Basic post-production according to guidelines, including colour correction, shortening and cleaning footage.
  • Additional audiovisual tasks depending on the demand within the team.

Key Competencies and requirements for the delivery of the services:

  • Experience in video editing and in producing audiovisual media. We kindly ask for a demo reel or video portfolio to evaluate these skills.
  • Experience working with the Adobe Creative Suite, in particular with Adobe Premiere.
  • Experience in the field of post-production is a strong plus.
  • A workplace suitable for remote work.

Language Skills:
The position requires an excellent command of English. Spanish or German language skills are a plus.

Location:
Remote working. Working hours are flexible. The working student will be available via email with a response time of two business days, except during annual leave periods.

Remuneration and Contract:
The applicant must be enrolled as a student in one of ESO’s member states (Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK) and be at least 18 years of age. The work can be performed remotely alongside your studies. The scope is eight hours per week at an hourly rate of 17 EUR, which can be done flexibly. The estimated hours per year are 350.
