How can different types of website backgrounds (solid colors, gradients, images, video, etc.) influence user perception and engagement, and what factors should designers consider when choosing the right one?

I’d always seen them as“just background,” but they actually guide the eye, set mood, and reinforce branding. Love the breakdown of different types — solid colors, gradients, images, even parallax and video. The warning about avoiding distractions and slowdowns is solid advice too. Makes me want to experiment and find that perfect background that actually works with the content.
